Printing
Businesses today turn towards propositions that add valuable to their conversation with the customer. With the advent of digital technology, print has become a dynamic, multi-channel tool for marketing and communication. This is where Box&Print comes to your rescue by offering customized printing solutions to its clientele. We provide a graphic workflow that is seamless, along with corrugation, offset printing, packaging, special effects like lamination and dripoff, and met pet printing.
Offset (Lithographic Printing)
Offset lithography is one of the most common ways of creating printed materials.
Offset printing is best suited for economically producing large volumes of high quality prints in a manner that requires little maintenance.
In this printing technique, the inked image is transferred (or "offset") from a plate to a rubber blanket and then to the printing surface. When used in combination with the lithographic process, which is based on the repulsion of oil and water, the offset technique employs a flat (planographic) image carrier. Ink rollers transfer ink to the image areas of the image carrier, while a water roller applies a water-based film to the non-image areas.
The modern "web" process feeds a large reel of paper through a large press machine in several parts, typically for several metres, which then prints continuously as the paper is fed through.
One of the important functions in the printing process is prepress production. This stage makes sure that all files are correctly processed in preparation for printing. This includes converting to the proper CMYK color model, finalizing the files, and creating plates for each color of the job to be run on the press.
Advantages of Offset Printing:
- Large quantities can be printed cost effectively
- The more you print, the cheaper the price per piece
- A large variety of paper types with custom finishes can be used
- Special custom inks such as metallic and Pantone colors are available
- Highest possible printing quality, with greater detail and color fidelity
Finishing
Packaging finishes, also known as coating, is primarily used to protect the ink that's printed from things such as scratches, dirt, and fingerprints. The most common types of finishes are dripoff and lamination, which can be added to your printed materials (after offset printing).
Lamination
Lamination is a post-printing process in which a thin protective transparent plastic film is applied to the surface of the printed paperboard. The film can efficiently improve the rigidity of the printed paper box and make the paper box water-proof to some extent in humid conditions. What's more important is that the laminating can keep the printing color crisp for years.
Lamination enhances the visuals and tactile feel of the product.
In essence, lamination makes the product ‘ready’ to be put into the hands of consumers.
The most common lamination styles include matte lamination (smooth) and glossy lamination (shiny).
Drip-off
Drip-off coating is a eye catching print finishing process that grabs customer attention and add value, glamour and prestige to the printed substrate. This can be done by in-line and off-line process. It can be water based, oil based and UV based. A high speed sheet offset press with inline coater is required to achieve this finishing effect.
Drip-Off effect also know as Hybrid varnish is a technology by which the matt sections of a printed sheet can be very clearly distinguished from the gloss sections, attracting the attention of the customer to the most important details.
This technique allows the combination of both matt and gloss areas by a single screen printing operation which reduces the lead time and improves the quality of the product.
The purpose behind is to give a competitive advantage in packaging to the brand owners which can help them to boost the value and sales. There are varieties of product lines especially in pharmaceutical industry, cosmetic industry, decorative and gift presentations where packaging plays a decisive role to purchase the product. More attractive packaging leads to more turnovers.
Met Pet
Met Pet Printing refers to laminating Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) films with thin layer of metal foil usually alluminium thus giving it a very high shine finish. Printing is made more attractive with metallic multicolor printing.
In Met Pet Printing, none of the ink is absorbed but the ink is dried using UV rays. Printing is done on silver laminate materials through UV printing and UV machines which helps in retaining strong adhesiveness of metallic layer even after lamination thus enhancing the overall look of the product making it more attractive and unique on the shelf. Graining is also done through the same system which gives a texture UV look to the printed material.
This type of printing gives the basic function of giving brilliance of metalized film which helps in better presentation of products by enhancing the particular decorative and aesthetic characteristics of flexible packaging. There is homogeneity of this layer and this metal coating does not discolor or fade over time. It has high clarity and gives a 3D effect when combined with embossing.
Met pet packaging and printing finds its application in different verticals including Pharmaceuticals,
FMCG, cosmetics, perfumes, liquor industry etc.
Advantages of MET PET
- With the passage of time, the coating does not disappear or fade.
- Structural and graphic design provides value added and a packaging that is unique for the market.
- Creating 3D effect by combining it with embossing.
- Preventing duplication
- Top quality high shine finish
- Adequately resistant to abrasions
- High levels of clarity
- UV-light exposure leads to instantaneous drying, saving time
- Great strength of adhesion after lamination process is completed.
- Better tensile strength and resistance to chemicals.
